ONTSI Report Information, Communication and Content Technologies Sector in Spain

ONTSI (National Observatory of Telecommunications and the Information Society) has just presented the seventh edition of the Annual Report, which analyzes the state of the Information Technology (ICT), Communication and Content Sector.
The main trends and conclusions of the study reveal that:

The turnover of the ICT sector exceeded 88,000 million euros, of which Contents exceeded the figure of 13,290 million euros.

The first study on Social Networks in Spain made by the Spanish National Observatory for Telecommunications and the Information Society (ONTSI) is structured in three well-differentiated parts.

In the first part of the report named “Social Networks on the Internet, Concepts and Research on Existing Data Sources” the different typologies of social networks are defined, conceptualized and classified, and their impact is measured. For that purpose, the available data from Brother Cell Phone List other reports on penetration rates and use habits are presented.


The number of active companies grew by 2.2% reaching a figure of 29,277 companies
These companies employ 395,097 people, generating a business of 74,874 million euros
The companies in the sector invested 14,368 million euros during 2013.
The gross added value at market prices was 44,591 million euros in 2013, which represents around 4.7% of the national GDP.
